Lesson 5
Looking at MS PAINT
Do you remember how to "copy" and "Paste" in MS Paint? We covered this in the last lesson.
In Lesson 2 - you looked at the 'Tools' that MS Paint has. How well do you remember them?
Do you remember reading this?
Cutting
Tools
– These are used for a whole or part of an image.
You can move, copy or get rid of a part. If you need to select very carefully-
then use the star shaped tool but the rectangle shape is far quicker and easier.
If you do not remember much about the 'Tools' options - then go through Lesson 2 again before continuing below (click on 'Lesson 2' and you will go to it!).
Sometimes you will need to copy and paste from one file to another. This is know as working in two windows.
In
this lesson, you are going to do this and learn how to use the ‘star’
cutting tool.
A)
Open the program ‘Paint’, then open the
file ’Tulip’

(Or you
can 'right-hand click the arrow over the picture above and the select 'copy'.
Then in MS Paint, select 'paste')
B)
Select
the ‘star’ cutting tool and keep the mouse button pressed down while you
very carefully draw round the tulip. (Do NOT let go of the mouse button
until you are finished). If you need to - start again from
the beginning.
C)
Select from the top menu EDIT
then COPY.
D)
Go to FILE NEW, EDIT then PASTE.
Your Tulip should be in the top left hand corner. Then paste
again and drag the copy to the middle of the
canvas. Your Tulips should overlap.
E) To
get rid of a white corner spoiling your picture click on the ‘paste
transparent’ button. You must do this while the Tulip still has the dotted
line round it.

F)
Now paste a few more Tulips to make your
own picture.
G) If you like your picture SAVE it.
Well done! You have now finished Lesson 5.
